Havdalah, Hot Tubs and S'More's - Come Enjoy on Saturday Night!

This coming weekend, we will NOT have a Friday night service, but we are having a different celebration instead - come enjoy  Havdalah with us in a special new way!  We are getting together Saturday night at the home of Lise and Sandi Schleicher, 2384 Dehne Road in Northbrook, at 7:30.  But there's a lot more happening than at your regular Havdalah - there will be a hot tub to hang out in, a fire pit to roast marshmallows and make S'More's, games to play, and much more!

A few details:
1. The house is at the corner of Western & Dehne.  You can park in the school lot across Western if you can't find a space on the street.
2. Don't come in via Techny Road - it's closed.
3. If you are hot tubbing, please bring towels, to make sure that we have enough.
4. Please bring lawn chairs if you can.
5. One thing will be like Friday night - please bring desserts!
6. MOST important - so we can plan, an RSVP would be great, to either sschleicher@onebox.com or 800/897-0533.  But if you decide at the last minute that you want to come, and haven't RSVP'ed, please do come!

Looking forward to seeing you there - should be the most fun Havdalah of all time!

Friday Night - Speaker from J Street!

For our June 29 service (7:30, back at LCHS), while Rabbi Eitan is on his Italy-Israel trip, we have a very special speaker, from J Street.  In case you do not know about J Street, it is a fairly new group, active both at the national level and in the Chicago area, that calls itself "the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans."  (For further info, see www.jstreet.org. )

The J Street speaker is Rich Goldwasser.  Rich lives in Highland Park - grew up in Northbrook and Skokie.  (So he probably grew up with someone from Shir Hadash.)  He went to U of I for his undergrad and law degrees, and later clerked for the President of Israel's Supreme Court.  He is a member of J Street's Board of Directors, and serves on the Steering Committee of J Street Chicago.

So come to hear what J Street has to say about what's going on in Israel.  And come to support our Adult Hebrew class, which will lead the service while Eitan is away.  And - don't forget to bring something for oneg....

Friday Night Service - Be a Spy!

Our June 15 service (7:30, back at LCHS) will include a special Torah Reading about the Incident of the Twelve Spies. Members will stage a dramatic skit about the portion, too.  (So if you've ever wanted to be a spy, now is your chance - just send a reply to this e-mail, and we'll get you a part.)

Rabbi Eitan will also teach about the significance of the tzitzit fringe on the tallit prayer shawl, and we will bless our children heading off to summer camp and Israel.

Also - come and wish Eitan a great trip!  He is headed to Israel for a few weeks, but first to Florence, where he will be giving a talk at a synagogue - by the name of Shir Hadash!

And - don't forget to bring something for oneg....
